Martis Camp Club To Host 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

Martis Camp has been selected by the United States Golf Association to host the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, July 22-27. This will be the first USGA championship held at Martis Camp.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to host the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship,” said club president Mark Johnson. “The members of Martis Camp, the Lake Tahoe area, and the community of Truckee are looking forward to hosting an exceptional event in this wonderful part of Northern California.”
Head golf pro Gus Jones added “Hosting one of the USGA’s 13 national championships is a proud moment for the members and ambassadors of the club. We look forward to putting our best foot forward on behalf of the competitors, the staff and visitors to Martis Camp.”
Ben Kimball of the USGA said “There is every reason to believe that Martis Camp Club will provide a wonderful test for the world’s finest junior golfers…The USGA is thrilled to be taking the 66th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship to Martis Camp. This golf course steals your eye away from the beautiful mountain scenery that surrounds it, which is saying a lot.”
Martis Camp also hosted the 2011 Pacific Coast Amateur Championship—won by 2011 USA Walker Cup member Chris Williams—as well as the U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifying in 2011, and will host U.S. Junior Amateur qualifying this year.
These tournaments are a great testament to the enduring qualities of the Tom Fazio course at Martis Camp, which our members already know to be one of the greatest golf experiences in the High Sierra.
